The Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District's Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center stages Patrick Barlow's comic adaptation of A Christmas Carol in its Black Box Theater on California Avenue over three December weekends. In this fast-paced version, five actors bring Dickens' whole Victorian world to life through quick costume and character transformations, physical comedy and clever storytelling, with plenty of festive magic along the way; the district bills it as hilarious, heartwarming and perfect for the whole family this holiday season. Evening shows run 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays December 4–5, 11–12 and 18–19, 2026, and Sunday matinees run 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. on December 6, 13 and 20 — the matinees are the easier choice with younger children, given the roughly two-and-a-half-hour running time. The intimate black-box setting puts the audience close to the action.
