Families can trick-or-treat through the Gruene Historic District in New Braunfels on the Wednesday evening before Halloween, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Children are encouraged to come in costume and visit participating shops, which display an official Trail of Treats sign at their door, to collect candy and treats; merchants also offer Halloween surprises and special offers. Live music fills the historic district during the evening. It is a walkable, early trick-or-treat that works well for young children who would rather not go door to door after dark.
