- Texas Parks and Wildlife – Lost Maples State Natural Area
An hour-long introduction to nature journaling with a ranger at the day-use area of Lost Maples State Natural Area, as the maples begin to turn. Participants practice observation skills and sketch or write about the world around them; paper, pencils and crayons are provided, and you can bring your own journal. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on, plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat and bug spray if desired. It is free with park admission — day passes are $6 per person 13 and older — and day passes should be reserved in advance because the park often sells out on fall weekends.
