- Texas Parks and Wildlife Department – Lost Maples State Natural Area
Lost Maples is famous for its fall color, and on this Veterans Day morning a ranger explains the chemical changes that turn leaves red and gold before they drop. The talk meets at the day-use area at 11 am (look for the ranger's sign) and lasts about an hour. The park warns that fall is very busy, so allow plenty of time to check in at headquarters and find parking, and reserve a day pass in advance. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat and bug spray. It is free with park admission; day passes are $6 for visitors 13 and older.
