On Thanksgiving morning Guadalupe River State Park holds a one-hour family program about wild turkeys, which live in the park. Rangers cover the birds' habits and calls, so children can learn to recognize a gobble before they try to spot one on the trails. It meets at the amphitheater behind the Discovery Center from 10 to 11 am. The talk is free with park admission: adults $7, children 12 and under free. It is a good way to start a holiday outing before a picnic or a riverside walk; programs can be canceled in bad weather.
