About this adventure
Downtown Vista's free Halloween-season family night fills Main Street on the Friday before Halloween. Children come in costume and trick-or-treat at booths set up along the street, and costume contests award prizes. Partnering with the City of Vista, the organizers run a haunted house inside the AVO Playhouse, billed as not for the faint of heart, plus a haunted trail tractor ride with zombies and ghosts popping out of the dark, so parents of preschoolers may want to stick to the street booths. Vista firefighters and sheriff's deputies hand out candy and show their engines and patrol cars, and many downtown shops also give out treats. The event runs four hours in the evening; dress kids warmly and bring a bag for candy.
