The Lawrence Family JCC in La Jolla runs a Sunday youth basketball programme from November 1, 2026, to January 17, 2027, with no sessions on December 6 and December 27. Players are split into two age groups: 8U meets from 11:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and 11U from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m., in the JCC's West and East gyms. Coaches teach the basics of team basketball, along with the strategy and cooperation that come with playing in an organised setting, and sessions mix clinics, scrimmages and games. It suits children who are new to the sport or who want weekend practice outside a school team. The season costs $300, or $250 for JCC members, and registration is through the JCC's youth programmes page (add to cart online).
