About this adventure

Hilltop Recreation Center, a City of San Diego park on a hilltop off Black Mountain Road in Rancho Peñasquitos, holds its Winter Wonderland on the first Saturday of December. Santa visits, and the afternoon is packed with activities for children: a goodie bag, a photo booth, a DJ, a bounce house, a face painter, a fire truck to explore, a petting zoo, a rock climbing wall and arts and crafts. Entry is tied to the holiday toy drive: families are admitted free when they contribute a toy to Toys for Tots, so bring one along. The event runs from 11 AM to 3 PM, which makes it easy to fit around naps or a morning activity, and the center's grounds include a large open-space park with a gazebo and a children's play area. A flyer with more details is linked from the center's page.
