San Mateo County Parks

San Mateo County Parks' marine reserve at Moss Beach with some of the most accessible tidepools on the coast, plus a bluff-top trail and cypress grove. The reserve opens at 8:00 AM every day of the year including holidays; closing is seasonal: 6:00 PM from October 12 to November 1, 2026 and 5:00 PM from November 2, 2026 through February 2027. Tidepooling depends on low tides; the county's pages link tide guidance and 'use caution on beaches and bluffs' advisories. Groups of 15 or more need a reservation; a free pre-field-trip tidepool program is offered to grade-school classes. Parks phone (650) 728-3584. No entry fee is printed on the reserve pages.
