About this adventure

The Hollister Downtown Association lines San Benito Street with the 36th Annual Lights On Celebration Parade on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The theme is The Nutcracker, and Upbeat Parade Productions supplies displays. Community groups, businesses, and performers can enter, while families watching from the street are asked to bring canned food or toys for a collection at the association office. The Dec-A-Tree project puts more than 30 nonprofit-decorated trees in front of the Veterans Memorial Building all day; those trees are later given to San Benito County families. Storefronts along the downtown merchant strip are part of the walk before and after the 5:30 p.m. start. Jaime the Elf, the parade mascot from a 1995 local story, is the children's thread of the night.
