About this adventure

The San José Museum of Art opens free to everyone for a Día de los Muertos Community Day of hands-on art and performances. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids can decorate a calavera de azúcar (sugar skull) with bright frosting on the first floor (free, but a timed ticket picked up at the museum is required), make and wear paper cempasúchil marigolds, and design a tiny luchador mask for a thumb-wrestling match on the second floor. Performances include Kaisahan San Jose (noon–12:30), Pro Wrestling Revolution (12:30–3:30) and roaming Calacas dancers (1:30–4). Galleries stay open until 6 p.m. Registration is free and open to all ages; Open Space Authority is a partner.
