About this adventure

Ed R. Levin County Park climbs the foothills above Milpitas across 1,558 acres of lawns, grassland and oak woodland. Families come for the playground (one of only three in the county park system), kite flying and frisbee on three lawns, and the sight of hang gliders and paragliders launching from the hills and drifting over the park. Sandy Wool Lake is stocked for fishing from November through May (no swimming), and in the Spring Valley area a pond is reserved as a kids-only fishing hole for ages 5 through 12. Older kids and teens can tackle part of the 20.6-mile trail system, including the climb toward Monument Peak with views of the valley and San Francisco Bay. The Spring Valley area also holds the restored Laguna pioneer cemetery (1863–1912). Milpitas runs a large off-leash dog park inside the park.
