About this adventure
Raptor Fest is Santa Clara County Parks' annual birds-of-prey day, held with Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) at Rancho San Vicente, a newer part of Calero County Park that is becoming a destination for watching raptors. Master Falconer Kenny Elvin of Full Circle Falconry gives a 45-minute falconry presentation twice during the day, covering the history of falconry and the biology and habits of raptors, possibly with a flight demonstration if conditions allow. Local wildlife and conservation groups host tables where families can learn how Bay Area species are protected. The event is free but needs advance registration and a ticket; parking at the site is limited, so a shuttle is required and provided.
