Silicon Valley Turkey Trot Kids Fun Run and Kids Fun Zone

The Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, billed as America's largest Thanksgiving Day race, has its own Kids Fun Run for ages 2 to 7. Children run short out-and-back courses by age group: 100 yards for ages 2–3, 200 yards for ages 4–5 and 300 yards for ages 6–7, starting at 10:15 a.m. alongside the park on W. St. John Street. Every runner gets a race shirt, a medal and a post-race snack. The Kids Fun Zone at Arena Green West opens at 9 a.m. with activities, arts and crafts, performances and local mascots, so families can come early while grown-ups run the 5K or 10K (8:30 a.m. start). A guardian must stay with children at all times; the zone is not a drop-off area. Metered street parking is free on race morning, but Highway 87 at Julian closes after 7:45 a.m.
