About this adventure

Woodland Park Zoo sets aside three evenings of its WildLanterns holiday light festival as Low Sensory Nights for guests who prefer a quieter, more relaxed visit: Sunday, November 15, Tuesday, December 1, 2026, and Sunday, January 10, 2027, from 4 to 9 p.m. On these nights the zoo lowers the volume of music and sound effects, reduces flashing lights and keeps a calmer atmosphere along the paths of glowing, custom-made animal lanterns, which this year follow a trip around the world from penguins and orcas to snow leopards, the African savanna and an underwater scene. Inside, Zoomazium becomes Zoomazium Nightlights, a low-sensory indoor space with dim lighting and gentle background sounds, with themed activities such as neon coloring and a rotating activity each night at 6:30 p.m. The zoo publishes a WildLanterns social narrative and a guest map that marks sensory-friendly spots, lends sensory items at Guest Services, and stations specialized docent carts at Zoomazium and the Discovery Loop on these nights only. It is a good fit for children with autism or sensory sensitivities, toddlers, and anyone who finds the regular nights too intense.
