About this adventure

Seattle Theatre Group sets aside the Saturday, January 2, 2027 matinee of the touring production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Paramount Theatre as a sensory-friendly performance, designed as a supportive, judgment-free way for people with sensory processing challenges, and their families, to share a live musical. The sound is turned down, the house lights stay on at a low level, strobe effects and lighting aimed at the audience are reduced, and audience members are free to talk, stand, move around and leave their seats. The theater sets up designated quiet and activity areas, hands out fidgets, earplugs and noise-cancelling ear-muffs in the lobby before the show, and adds extra staff and volunteers, with a specialized therapist assigned to each seating section; ASL interpretation is available at this performance. Families may bring their own comfort objects, seat cushions and tablets or phones used with headphones. Pre-show tours of the theater can be arranged with STG's education department, which helps children who like to know what to expect.
