About this adventure

Each holiday season the Carrollwood Cultural Center fills its lobby with artificial Christmas trees that community members and local businesses have decorated around a theme, and visitors can walk through the display and place silent-auction bids. Families can stop in to look at the trees and the gifts tucked underneath, which makes it an easy, free-feeling add-on to a class, show or gallery visit at the center. Money raised goes to the center's Tom Jones Tuition Assistance Fund, which helps families who need financial help send children to the center's summer camp for free or at reduced tuition. Winning bidders take home the tree, all of its decorations and the goodies under it in mid-December. An online auction runs alongside the lobby display and closes on December 13 at 9 p.m. The center notes the display raises about a quarter of its yearly fundraising goal.
