A 596-acre peninsular county park founded in 1982 for nature study and passive recreation, protecting mangrove forests, salt marshes, freshwater marshes, coastal hammocks and pine flatwoods. Visitors can hike nature trails and boardwalks, look for gopher tortoises and bobcats, use the centrally located playground and picnic shelters, and visit the nature center with interpretive exhibits and live animal displays of fish, snakes and turtles. A canoe/kayak launch gives access to the creek and bay; canoes and kayaks can be rented at the nature center front desk (rentals may be suspended during small craft advisories).
