About this adventure
North Carolina's gateway to the Great Dismal Swamp, the largest remaining swamp in the eastern United States, in Camden County right on the Virginia border. It has hiking and bike trails, and a visitor center with exhibits on the swamp's plants and wildlife and its history linked to George Washington, the Underground Railroad and Prohibition. The 22-mile Dismal Swamp Canal beside the park is a popular paddling route. Day use is free.
