About this adventure

Norfolk Botanical Garden's walk-through holiday light show, running for more than 30 years and voted among the best botanical garden holiday lights in the country by USA Today 10Best readers. Families walk a one-mile loop of lit displays through the garden after dark; driving through is not allowed. The route works for strollers, wagons and wheelchairs, though some paths are packed gravel with slight slopes, and double strollers have to fold to get through Baker Hall, where tickets are scanned. The garden's elves roam the paths and pose for photos on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. Families can wear holiday pajamas on Nov 12 and festive sweaters on Nov 19. Dogs are welcome on Barks & Bulbs nights (Wednesdays and Sundays). A pop-up bistro sells mocktails and treats, and a food drive for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia collects donations at the entrance. Children 3 and up need a ticket. Tickets are timed, sold online with limited nightly capacity, and walk-ups cost $5 more. A mobility shuttle runs once nightly, leaving at 5:15 pm.
