Roots to Rocks Bike Clinics on the pump track at the South Germantown Bike Park give riders coaching from certified bike coaches on bike set-up and safety, body position, shifting and cadence, looking ahead and effective braking. The program text asks for riders ages 6 and up who already know how to ride a bike with gears. Participants wear closed-toe shoes and bring their own water bottle; bike gloves and above-the-ankle socks are encouraged, and a few loaner bikes and helmets are available against collateral. Clinics run on Sunday, November 1 and Saturday, November 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, at South Germantown Recreational Park. Registration is through Montgomery Parks; in bad weather the program may be cancelled or adjusted, with about 24 hours' notice. These morning clinics are separate from the afternoon Bike Park Days (1 to 3 p.m.) held at the same bike park on both days.
