About this adventure

The Washington Harbour's outdoor ice rink on the Georgetown waterfront reopens for the 2026–27 season. It is billed as the largest outdoor rink in the city, with views of the Potomac River, the Kennedy Center and Key Bridge, and twinkling snowflake decorations after dark. Public skating is sold in 90-minute sessions; rental skates and skate aids (useful for small children who are still finding their balance) are available rink-side. During Thanksgiving week and winter break (Dec 21 – Jan 2) the rink runs extra daytime sessions from 11 am, which makes it an easy school-holiday outing; on regular January and February weekdays it opens only from 3 pm. Families with 10 or more skaters can book a group rate that includes skate rental, and private morning and evening rentals are offered for birthday parties. Weather closures are announced on the rink's Instagram and Facebook pages, so check before you go.
