The Gingerbread Games is a gingerbread house building and decorating competition run by City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center. Each participant or team receives a gingerbread kit with everything needed to build and decorate a house, plus three tickets that can be traded for extra decorating items such as icing, gumdrops or pretzel sticks to finish the design. The session is a short, focused 45 minutes, so it suits families with school-age children who like a timed challenge. Registration and the rules are linked from the city's event page; the listed cost is 35, and the page does not say whether that is per person or per team, so check when registering.
