About this adventure
Darnall's Chance House Museum in Upper Marlboro fills with entries in its annual gingerbread house contest. This year's theme salutes America's 250th anniversary, so local bakers have built colonial cottages, landmarks and other scenes from 250 years of American history out of gingerbread and candy. Families walk through the show at their own pace; it is a short, easy holiday outing for small children who like spotting details, and older kids may pick up ideas for their own gingerbread builds. The show is open on three weekends (Friday to Sunday) from Thanksgiving weekend into mid-December.
