Herbert W. Wells Ice Rink in College Park is a Prince George's County parks rink that is open-air with a roof, so it runs a six-month season; for 2026–27 the operating season is October 2026 through April 2027. The NHL-size ice hosts public skating four days a week: Wednesday midday, Friday afternoon and late evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Families with beginners can rent walkers or skate aids, and skate rentals are available for an extra fee in limited sizes. Admission is lower for residents of Prince George's and Montgomery counties with proof of residency, and children and seniors pay the same rate. Super Saver tickets include skate rental, and college students with ID get a discounted rate. The rink is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday. It also offers group and private lessons, a youth hockey program and a party room. Dress warmly, since the rink is semi-enclosed.
