The Southern Museum's monthly drop-in Homeschool Workshops mix train-themed STEAM, history and hands-on projects from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each student gets a personal introduction and instructions, then works through open-ended activities, with a guided presentation or tour every half hour. Themes: Counterweights and Measures (November 11, 2026 — weight and balance on the railroads), Debunking the Myths of the Civil War (December 9) and American Railroading Firsts (January 13, 2027, opening a year marking 200 years of American railroading). Recommended for elementary students ages 5 to 12 with caregivers; included in museum admission, free for members, no registration required.
