About this adventure

A two-hour studio class for homeschooled teens ages 12 to 17 at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville. Students use unexpected materials and paint to build a textured background, then work chalk pastel over it, taking cues from Booth artists Jane Hunt and Felice House. The lesson looks at how color and simple shapes drawn from nature, such as big skies, clouds and landforms, can create mood and atmosphere, and it leaves room for each teen's personal style. The class includes a tour of the related artwork in the museum. Students are dropped off and picked up at the Borderlands Classroom. Registration is required by Friday, November 13, the class runs only with at least 10 students, and the per-student fee is lower for museum members.
