About this adventure

The December stop of Art in Cahoots, the City of Austin's free caregiver-and-child art pop-up, comes to the Turner Roberts Recreation Center. Designed for children of prekindergarten age, the hour is built around open-ended, hands-on art making: the Dougherty Arts Center team brings sensory, multi-disciplinary activities that the child and the adult who comes with them explore side by side, with the emphasis on process rather than a finished project. It is meant as a gentle first taste of a classroom, where little ones practice sharing space and materials with other children while their grown-up stays close. The activities are different each month, so families who came to an earlier session will find something new. Children need to be at least 30 months old, and each child takes part with a caregiver. Places are limited; reserving a free spot on Eventbrite ahead of time is recommended, and walk-ins are welcomed only if spaces remain.
