The Friends of the Canton Library throw a festive winter open house at Canton, which the Pratt describes as the oldest branch in the Enoch Pratt Free Library system. The two-hour Saturday afternoon includes holiday-themed decorations, activities for visitors, refreshments and music performed by a Peabody Live ensemble from the Peabody Institute. The calendar tags it for kids, teens, adults and seniors, so it works as an easy neighborhood stop for families with children of any age. It takes place in the branch meeting room, and the listing states that no registration is required, so families can arrive any time between 2 and 4 pm.
