A holiday baking-and-barnyard morning for young children at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, built around Jan Brett's picture book Gingerbread Baby. Families start in the farm kitchen designing and decorating their own gingerbread baby and sliding it into the oven. While it bakes, a Mass Audubon field teacher reads the story aloud, and then everyone heads outside to meet the farm animals who appear in the book, including cows, pigs and goats. Back in the kitchen, kids add finishing touches to their cooled cookie and take it home as a holiday keepsake. Sessions run 90 minutes, meet at the Farm Life Center, and go on rain or shine, so dress for time outdoors. Families with allergy concerns should call the farm before registering. Advance registration is required.
