Greater Boston Stage Company's holiday production in Stoneham is Joe Landry's adaptation of 'It's a Wonderful Life' staged as a 1946 live radio broadcast. A small cast of actors in a Manhattan radio studio on Christmas Eve voices the whole story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls, with music and on-stage sound effects created in front of the audience, until a guardian angel shows George what the town would have been without him. The radio-studio format, with performers switching characters and making sounds by hand, tends to hold the attention of older children and teens who might not sit through the film, and the story suits multigenerational outings. The run is November 27 to December 20, 2026, directed by Tyler Rosati. Ticket deals include $27 tickets for the first performance with code FRUGAL from noon on November 27, 27 tickets at $27 per show by phone, $45 premium seats at Saturday 7 pm shows (code SAVVY), and $6 Card to Culture tickets for EBT cardholders. Parking in Stoneham is free.
