City Ballet of Boston brings excerpts of The Urban Nutcracker, its Boston-set modern retelling of the holiday ballet, to the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library. After the dancers perform, children hear a reading of the Nutcracker story and then get up and learn a few new dance moves with a City Ballet of Boston teaching artist, so come in clothes that are easy to move in. The library pitches the hour at young movers ages 3 to 8, and it works well for preschool classes, home-schoolers and younger siblings with a caregiver. The program runs 10:30 to 11:30 am; no registration requirement is listed.
