Upcoming dates: Wed, Oct 21 · Sat, Oct 31
The Boston Park Rangers open their Nature Center at Jamaica Pond for an afternoon about the creatures that come out after dark. Families can drop in to learn about owls, bats and other nighttime animals that live in Boston's parks, with rangers on hand to answer questions. The Halloween-day session on Saturday, October 31 adds a special guest: one of the Park Rangers' horses, with a bonus presentation on the mounted unit's work. Each open house runs one hour, 2:00 to 3:00 pm, and is free. It fits preschool and elementary-age kids well, and pairs easily with a walk around the pond. No registration is mentioned on the city listing.
