Temple Beth Elohim's eighth annual Dreidel Dash celebrates Chanukah with a chip-timed 5K walk/run through the streets around the temple in Wellesley Hills, followed by two short races just for children: the Kiddie Dash for ages 5 and under and the Junior Dash for ages 6 to 10, each one or two laps of the TBE parking lot. Every child who finishes wins a prize, and festive Chanukah costumes are strongly encouraged, with awards for the best solo and group costumes (runners and non-runners alike). Food and activities for all ages round out the morning, and the event is open to everyone, not only temple members. Schedule: registration and bib pickup from 8:15 am, the 5K at 9:30, 5K awards at 10:30 and the kids' races at 10:45. Youth 17 and under get discounted 5K pricing, and the first 300 registrants receive a knit hat. Arrive via Route 9 rather than Walnut Street and park on neighborhood side streets. Early bib pickup is Friday, December 4, 3-6 pm. Proceeds go to the TBE Youth Engagement Fund.
