About this adventure

The Alden House Historic Site in Duxbury, cared for by the Alden Kindred of America, spends a Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving at the open hearth. Foodways historian and 18th-century reenactor Stacy Booth cooks popular colonial holiday dishes in the Alden Center for Living History and tells how the Alden family would have celebrated Thanksgiving, and visitors are invited to join in the preparations. Families can also make a Thanksgiving-themed craft, tour the new Center for Living History, and see the Alden House decorated for the season, and Stacy shares recipes for guests to try at home. No registration is needed, and the program is included with museum admission, so it is an easy drop-in for families who want to see, smell and help with hearth cooking the weekend before the holiday. The museum calls it a festive afternoon filled with history and fun for the whole family.
