The Town of Waxhaw marks Veterans Day with a ceremony at the town's Military Wall of Honor on North Main Street at 11 a.m., the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month when the World War I armistice was declared. The town's page explains the history of Armistice Day becoming Veterans Day and frames the ceremony as a time to thank living veterans and remember service members who have died. It is a short, free outdoor civic event that families and school-age children can attend together to see how the community honors local veterans.
