About this adventure

The McHenry County Conservation District marks the winter solstice with a free, multi-cultural Welcome Winter Celebration at the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Ringwood, on Saturday, December 19, from noon to 3 p.m. Visitors learn about indigenous peoples' connections to the winter solstice with special guests from the Trickster Cultural Center, and the afternoon includes traditional indigenous music, dancing, storytelling, arts and crafts, and light refreshments. The event is for all ages and free; registration through the district's online store is recommended. The visitor center, perched on a glacial moraine overlooking the Nippersink Creek valley, also has an exhibit room and drop-in library open daily, and winter building hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
