Dickens is the City of Plano's free holiday festival in the historic Downtown Plano Arts District, held Saturday, December 5, 2026, from 4 to 9 p.m. The street turns into an old-fashioned winter scene, and there's a lot for children to do. They can have photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus (and with 'The Mean One'), ride a snow slide, join kids' crafts and help paint the Dickens mural. There's also a Children's Entrepreneur Market where young sellers run their own stands. The Interurban Railway Museum holds readings of 'The Polar Express' at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., and the tree lighting ceremony is at 7 p.m. Grown-ups can walk the coffee and cocoa route, browse Christmas Tree Row and the vendor village, and buy food at the Feaster's Fair. An HEB Family Corner rounds out the activities. Entry is free, but food, drinks and some activities may cost extra. Downtown parking fills quickly, so arrive early.
