Mansfield's Man House Museum, the city's historic house museum on West Broad Street, opens its doors for Holiday at the House on the first Saturday of December. The house is decorated for an authentic 1870s Christmas, and visitors tour the rooms and make historic gifts of the kind a family might have made in that era. Admission is free and the event runs from 11 am to 3 pm, so families can drop in for a short visit. It works well for school-age children studying Texas history and for anyone who enjoys seeing how Christmas was celebrated before electric lights. Mansfield's Hometown Holidays celebration at City Hall takes place the evening before.
