About this adventure
JumpstART is a free first-Thursday-morning story time at the Irving Arts Center that pairs children's books with a hands-on art project, run with the Irving Public Library. Each month has a theme: Giving Thanks on November 5 (stories about gratitude before the holidays), Holiday Lights on December 3 (stories about holiday traditions and lights around the world) and Winter Wonders on January 7 (snowy-day tales and a winter art project). Children make a take-home project with all supplies provided, then families are invited to browse the center's galleries together. It is aimed at ages 2 and up, so toddlers and preschoolers with a parent or caregiver are the core audience, and the hour-long format fits a morning outing. Drop-ins are welcome; groups of 10 or more, such as daycares or homeschool co-ops, must pre-register through the box office.
