About this adventure

Weatherford's downtown Christmas day runs around the historic Parker County Courthouse square. The 2026 theme is Gingerbread Christmas: by day the square fills with local shops and vendors, festive food, holiday entertainment, family activities and visits with Santa Claus, and the first Gingerbread Christmas Contest puts families' and businesses' gingerbread creations on display for judging (houses, barns, churches, historic buildings and more; family entries compete for cash prizes and a People's Choice trophy). After the square winds down, Weatherford Lights the Night begins: a lighted parade of floats and decorated vehicles with the Roo Marching Band, the Weatherford Blue Belles and Santa at the end, starting at the Ninth Grade Center and looping through downtown. Families can make a whole day of it, or come in the evening just for the parade; bring chairs or a blanket for a curbside spot. Groups can still register a float or decorated vehicle, and families can enter the gingerbread contest through the Chamber's online forms.
