Grapevine's 47th annual Parade of Lights brings more than 100 lighted floats and marching bands down Historic Main Street on the first Thursday evening of December, with Santa Claus riding on the final float. The city calls it the largest lighted Christmas parade in North Texas and a family-friendly tradition for all ages; this year's theme is Christmas Miracle on Main Street. The parade starts at 7 pm at S. Main St. and Hanover St., runs north across Dallas Road through the historic district and ends at S. Main St. and Northwest Highway. Watching is free. The CVB suggests coming early to shop and eat downtown before claiming a curbside spot; bring folding chairs or blankets and warm layers for children, since the parade route is outdoors and crowds build well before the start.
