A Thanksgiving-season nature program at the Nature Center of the Johnson Branch Unit of Ray Roberts Lake State Park. Families learn about the wild turkey, including the history and myths around the bird, then make turkey masks to take home for the holiday. The program runs as two one-hour sessions, 11 am to noon and 1 to 2 pm, so families can pick the one that fits. All ages are welcome, and the craft makes it especially suited to younger children. It takes place indoors in the Nature Center, which has a ramp off the wheelchair-accessible concrete trail. Bring water, closed-toed shoes and clothes for the weather. It is included in park entry fees and may be cancelled in bad weather.
