A ranger-led hike at the Johnson Branch Unit of Ray Roberts Lake State Park on the day after Thanksgiving. Hikers meet rangers at the Dogwood Canyon parking lot between 10 am and 1 pm and choose one of two routes. The longer Dogwood Canyon Trail is a moderate 5.2-mile round trip, off-road on uneven ground with no water along the way. The shorter Cross Timbers Trail is an easy 2.6-mile round trip on a paved concrete path with a small grade and water access, which suits families with younger children or strollers. All ages are welcome. Bring water, closed-toed shoes, bug spray, sunscreen and clothes for the weather. The hike is included in park entry fees. It is cancelled in bad weather; check the park's site or call headquarters.
