About this adventure
McGregor Square in LoDo starts its holiday season on Friday, November 27, with a free afternoon that combines a Denver Broncos watch party, a holiday tree lighting and the season opening of its outdoor ice rink. The 1 p.m. Broncos game plays on the plaza's 66-foot big screen, and the McGregor Square holiday tree is lit at halftime. From 2 to 4 p.m. the Colorado Rockies mascot Dinger trades his usual gear for a Santa suit and poses for free holiday photos. Skaters from Denver Colorado FSC give a performance on the ice, and McGregor Skate opens to the public right after it; skate admission and rentals are paid separately. A holiday market of local vendors sets up along Wynkoop Street, and after the final whistle the plaza shows the holiday film Elf on the big screen. The event is free to attend and open to all ages, with an optional free RSVP.
