Oakland County Parks opens the renovated Red Oaks Park (formerly Ambassador Park) in Madison Heights with a free, costume-friendly community party on the Friday before Halloween. Families can try a climbing tower (closed-toe shoes required), play giant Connect 4, Jenga and Tetris, toss cornhole, dance to a DJ, tour the new playground and McGillivray Play Garden, and collect treats at stations around the park. Other new features include hammocks, porch swings by the new restroom building and an improved sledding hill worth remembering for winter. Two hours, 3–5 p.m.
