About this adventure

Little Acorns is a two-hour drop-off nature program for preschoolers at Red Oaks Nature Center, run by Oakland County Parks on Tuesday mornings. Each week brings a new theme explored through discovery activities, short hikes and hands-on investigation, with the goal of building children's confidence and curiosity and a real connection to the outdoors. Because it is a drop-off program, it is a gentle step toward independence for three- to five-year-olds who are ready to spend a morning with a naturalist and a small group of peers; all children must be potty-trained. Families pack a snack and water and dress children for the weather, since most of the time is spent outside, though activities move indoors in severe weather. The winter series runs for eight weeks from mid-January to early March and is booked as a whole series.
