About this adventure

As twilight falls, the Sterling Heights Nature Center leads families on a slightly eerie lantern-lit hike through its woods. Glowing lanterns and illuminated paths guide the group past hidden animal silhouettes, subtle projections and small nighttime surprises, while naturalists share facts about nocturnal wildlife and what animals do after dark. The city describes it as a mix of nature education, storytelling and atmosphere meant to spark curiosity and wonder, a good fit for children who like a little spooky without real scares. The program is open to all ages, takes place outdoors after sunset on uneven natural trails, and requires closed-toe shoes; flashlights are not needed unless staff say otherwise, and everyone should dress for the weather. It runs about 90 minutes and meets at the Nature Center's lower field. Register through WebTrac by November 4; the fee is $8 for residents and $12 for non-residents.
