A drop-in art-making workshop at the Detroit Institute of Arts during the two weekends before Día de los Muertos. Visitors learn how sugar skulls are used in Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexican and Mexican American communities, then decorate one of their own to take home. It is tagged for families, needs no experience, and runs Friday evenings 6–8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday afternoons noon–4 p.m. Capacity is limited, so arrive early in the session. Pair it with a visit to the museum's galleries.
