About this adventure

A free afternoon-to-evening Día de los Muertos celebration on the Kemah Boardwalk waterfront. Between 2 and 6 PM children can make Day of the Dead crafts such as sugar skulls while a mariachi band plays, folklórico dancers perform and an airbrush artist decorates faces; a sugar-skull stilt walker roams from 4:30, there is a Day of the Dead costume contest from 6:15 to 6:45 PM, and fire spinners and live music by Los Hermanos Lara carry the party into the night. It is an easy, no-ticket way for families to see the traditions of the holiday honoring loved ones, and it combines well with the Boardwalk's rides and restaurants (paid separately).
